Community Engagement Throughout the Exhibition
The illuminated papier mache orbs carried messages of gratitude, hope and love floating up from the vessel. During the exhibition, messages were read and inserted in the orbs. The most common message was gratitude for family. Some were light-hearted, like being thankful for mom and chicken nuggets. Others were thought-provoking: I am grateful for people that choose to build even though they have been through so much destruction. I am grateful for the home they create for others to experience safety. Still others were quite touching: Iā€™m grateful for safe spaces where I can be myself.
